Greetings ATU International Women’s Caucus Members and Women of the ATU,
We sincerely pray that this correspondence finds you doing well and creating “good trouble” in our communities, caucuses, and local unions!
Trust and Believe 2024 is crucial; the IWC is here to do its part!
Speaking for all the officers...let me state unequivocally that we are grateful for your support and patience for the time it’s taken to negotiate the next ATU International Women’s Caucus. We have constantly communicated with Officers and Seattle Local 587 Women’s Caucus members. We appreciate their continued participation in all things related to the 2024 conference.
As you recall, the members of the ATU IWC took a site selection vote to hold the next conference in Seattle, Washington. This selection request is based on availability. Unfortunately, we were unable to negotiate a satisfactory union hotel contract that was both amenable in dates, size, affordable room rates as well as overall conference cost that’s absorbed by the women of the ATU. We are dependent solely on participation numbers.
One of the main obstacles has been the astronomical cost after the 2020 pandemic in the hotel and food industries. The costs have skyrocketed, making it very costly to hold a conference in some places nationally. Additionally, we surveyed the average airfare cost for flights, which is additionally high. Collectively, we then decided to select another site because it was clear that Seattle was more expensive than the IWC could afford at this time.
Painstakingly, the Executive Officers moved the conference to Las Vegas, Nevada, during the weekend of June 20-22, 2024. We have been able to negotiate an affordable rate as well as lower down payments for the overall conference.
I’m sure we will have various discussions at the conference to create sustainable revenue to minimize falling into similar situations in the future. We will continue to partner with the women of Local 587 accept their assistance, which has been invaluable; and it allows us to engage in fresh ideas and thoughts to grow to the future, and we celebrate their giving spirit!
We are proud to announce our 2024 ATU IWC Conference!
“Seattle In Vegas, Growing Together”

Please…. Please… Please…we lovingly ask that rooms be booked once you are certain you will register for and attend the conference. Please don’t hold rooms…it will create a shortage!
Please stay tuned… we are finalizing the details for classes.
We will introduce an online registration form, but you can still send a paper form. There will be an additional fee if you pay with a card.
Our website will be up shortly, if not already, and you’ll find all conference information on the website at http://atuiwc.org.
The Flamingo Hotel provides a shuttle service. The airport is only 15 mins from the hotel so shuttles or cabs won't be expensive or difficult.
All are welcome through your union or caucuses! See you in June!
